When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address, and browser user agent string to aid in spam detection.
An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be used by the Gravatar service to verify if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: Automattic Privacy. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture becomes publicly visible in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Other visitors can download and extract location data from images on the site.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience, so you don’t need to fill them in again for future comments. These cookies last for one year.
Our site sets a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies when you visit our login page. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
We set several cookies to save your login info and screen display choices when you log in. Login cookies last two days, and screen options cookies last a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.
Editing or publishing an article sets an additional cookie in your browser, containing no personal data, indicating the post ID of the article edited. It expires after 1 day.

Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including data you’ve provided. You can also request the erasure of your personal data. This excludes data we are required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
