Who We Are

Comments

  • When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address, and browser user agent string to aid in spam detection.
  • An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be used by the Gravatar service to verify if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: Automattic Privacy. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture becomes publicly visible in the context of your comment.

Media

  • If you upload images to the website, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Other visitors can download and extract location data from images on the site.

Cookies

  • If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience, so you don’t need to fill them in again for future comments. These cookies last for one year.
  • Our site sets a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies when you visit our login page. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
  • We set several cookies to save your login info and screen display choices when you log in. Login cookies last two days, and screen options cookies last a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.
  • Editing or publishing an article sets an additional cookie in your browser, containing no personal data, indicating the post ID of the article edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

  • Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). Such content from other websites behaves exactly as if the visitor has visited the source website.
  • These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you are logged in to their website.

Data Sharing

  • If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Data Retention

  • Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
  • For registered users, we store personal information provided in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (username cannot be changed). Website administrators can also view and edit this information.

Your Data Rights

  • If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including data you’ve provided. You can also request the erasure of your personal data. This excludes data we are required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Data Transfer

  • Visitor comments may be screened by an automated spam detection service.
